This is a state of the art self protection course that has been tailor made to suit the needs of the Sikh Community. Since 9/11, turban-wearing Sikhs have suffered a great deal of verbal and physical abuse so it was deemed necessary to address this issue.
Furthermore, Sikhs are taught to be warriors of justice, as well as spiritual saints, so the skills of combat and martial arts are given great importance in the Sikh religion.
Unfortunately, with busy lives etc, many Sikhs find it difficult to commit to a regular martial arts class. However, this short ten week course has provided the participants with all the skills that they are ever likely to need to defend themselves. Not only that, all of the participants have reported that it has been a great experience, both lots of fun and very realistic, using lots of modern scenario training methods.
Given the overwhelming popularity of this course, SCYS hopes to organise more courses like this for the future.
